For a diffenbacchia select a location with a moderately bright light. Protect the plant from direct sunlight in summer; place near a sunny window in winter.
Moderately moist soil is preferred. Water the diffenbacchia thoroughly only after the soil is dry to the touch. Avoid over watering; do not allow the plants to stand in water. Drain the excess water in the saucer at the base of the pot to prevent root rot and protect furniture.
The diffenbacchia prefers temperatures that are warm; 70-72 F (21-22 C) daytimes and 65-70 F (18-21 C) nights. Avoid excessively hot and cold areas.
