Boston Fern; Sword Fern

(Nephrolepsis exaltata)

A Boston fern prefers bright light with some direct sunlight.

A warm temperature and high humidity is preferred all year.

A uniformly moist soil is preferred. Water thoroughly when the soil surface is dry to the touch. More water is required during the summer months. Do not allow the soil to dry out. Drain the excess water in the saucer at base of the pot to prevent root rot and to protect furniture.

Fertilize the fern about once a week with a slightly diluted dosage.

Key tip for success: Mist the leaves of the fern to provide extra moisture.
