Bromeliad

(Guzmania)

Bromeliads prefer a moderately bright diffused light (near a sunny window).

Moderately moist soil is preferred. Water thoroughly when soil feels dry to the touch. Also, keep a small amount of water in the cone at the base of the plant. Drain excess water in saucer at base of pot to prevent root rot and to protect furniture.

Key tips for success: Thoroughly water a newly purchased bromeliad to wash off the excess fertilizer and salt build-up from the soil mix. Don’t fertilize bromeliads during the winter.
