Hydrangea

(Hydrangea macrophylla)

A bright location is preferred for hydrangea in it's plant form. Avoid full sunlight but keep the plant near a sunny window (if it is kept inside).

Keep the soil uniformly moist at all times. Check often and water it thoroughly. Never allow the soil to dry out. Hydrangeas have a large water requirement. Drain the excess water in the saucer at the base of the pot to prevent root rot and to protect the furniture.

Moderate temperatures are ideal: 65-70 F (18-21 C) daytimes. Avoid excessively hot or cold areas.

Fertilize hydrangeas periodically, following the manufacturer’s directions.

Key tips for success: Maintain soil on the moist side at all times but don’t allow plant to stand in water. A cool environment at night (50-60 F/10-15 C) will help to extend the flowering period.
